The Challenge
Pivot Sport wanted to build a complex analytics web application that allows the segmentation of clients by analysing behavioural data and applying data science models to extract meaningful insights.
The system collects data from various telemetry systems like Google, Big Query and MS App Insights and runs prediction routines to predict churn rates of the users, helping Pivot Sports predict subscription growth.
Our Approach
Our team carried the entire end-to-end digital product development process of Fan Analytics, starting from idea to paper sketch wireframes, design, development, launch and maintenance. The web application was built following an Agile Methodology and a Lean Approach.
Analysis and discovery
We started with a Product Discovery Workshop and moved on to creating the roadmap of the Pivot Sport Analytics Platform. The aim was to understand the business scenario we were dealing with, the goals of our clients as well their potential users’ challenges.
We wanted someone who would be actively involved in the process and product design, as well as the product roadmap. We also wanted someone who would take a keen interest in understanding the successes and failures of our company. These expectations made us choose RebelDot.

MVP Development
For the MVP, we focused on building a console app without UI that allowed integration with 3rd party APIs to map the data based on the rules identified by the Pivot data team. Into the MVP we included also a feature to segment the ingested data using machine learning algorithms. The first version of Pivot Sport`s product was meant to collect data in regards to their users and how they interact with the product and help the stakeholders validate the business idea.
Full Product Development
The MVP provided the data for improving and adding more functionality to the web application. The application was designed as a layered multi-module system that allows sports properties and rights holders convert their fan/user data into market intelligence, enabling them to make better informed, data-driven fan engagement and monetization decisions. It ingests data from client’s sources, capturing behavioral and interactive data, augments and enriches it by adding multiple reference data and proprietary domain-specific data dictionaries.
